Meet Dr. Joel Tate
A Dentist With Many Accolades
Inspired by his father, a 1992 alumnus of the same institution, Dr. Joel Tate was introduced to the dental field at an early age. Born and raised in New Market, he is a 2018 graduate of Linganore High School. He attended Hood College, where in 2021 he received his Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry with a minor in business administration. He graduated cum laude.
He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. A member of the UMSOD class of 2025, Dr. Tate was selected for a specialized oral surgery clerkship during his fourth year of dental training. This program gave him practical experience in surgical extractions and osseous surgery, along with involvement in supporting oral cancer care in pre-operative and post-operative dental treatment.
Dr. Tate was awarded the MSDA Leadership Award, which recognizes a graduating dental student who has exhibited exemplary leadership and initiative for the future of dentistry in the state of Maryland. Dr. Tate was also awarded the Horance Wells Senior Student Award by the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology for outstanding achievement in dental anesthesiology, anxiety, and pain control.
Dr. Tate is passionate about comprehensive dental care and meeting the individual needs of his patients. Drawing on his clinical experience and the mentorship of his father, Dr. Haley Tate, he wants to empower patients through education.
Outside the office, Dr. Tate enjoys outdoor projects, time with family and friends, and the never-ending quest to become better at golf!
